WHY DOES IT TAKE THIS LONG.. (three hours before i'm supposed to be done with it) FOR ME TO COME UP WITH A CONCRETE IDEA THAT I CAN RUN WITH?

am i just a short distance runner? it's not like i haven't thought about it.. i've gone back and forth between twelve different ideas, but there's always something.. two characters from different stories, but by the same author.. too easy.. too obvious..
